Call It the Boy in Me...

From a very young age,  I was one of those kids who would look skyward and dream of "breaking the bonds of earth".  Just hearing a jet or small aircraft droning overhead would cause me to squint into the sunlight hoping to catch a glimpse of the magical flying object...whatever it may be.  It was always fascinating.

Fast forward to college and I pushed my way into my small college's aviation program, in spite of the fact that I was a graphic design major.  Haha, what practical application could a private pilot license give to a career graphic artist.  To my credit, I love photography (very much a part of Graphic Arts) as well...perhaps aerial photography could be my profession.

IF I needed to justify my aviation passion, then this could be a way to frame my argument.

Fast forward even more.  One semester of pilot training training only got me through my solo.  Call me a slow learner or just too busy in college to really apply myself to flight training.  Whatever.  To this day, I love flying...just not the idea that I can't pull over to the side of the road when the engine quits.

With a wife and three kids today I can't justify the time, expense, or danger of an ultralight....so flying RC aircraft feeds my need (or addiction).

I have mostly been feeding my addiction with scratch built Dollartree foam electric aircraft until recently.  The sweet little Alpha trainer in the video above is a bit newer version of my first foray into the nitro side of this amazing hobby!
