As I am relatively new to this hobby/addiction, it has been my most educational summer for upping my flying skills. I live outside of town about 8 miles and 10 miles from our local flying field. If I don't have other reasons to go to town, I typically don't just run in to fly. The exception has been to fly my new (used) Alpha Trainer nitro.
As you can imagine tall grassy havfields aren't conducive to gear takeoffs and landings. Anyway, goodbye summer...I miss you already.
So, how do you fly in the rain? A simulator of course. I started out with the Phoenix RC sim and have never used anything else. It contains many, many types of aircraft that you can buy and fly in real life. When you are away from your computer, you can try sims such as Realflight for Iphone and android. Of course they give you a dumbed-down experience, but educational just the same.
Simulators are a great way to get the feel for flying and even improve your skills/maneuvers as well as flying with others online. When the weather has you grounded, don't let it get you down...jump on a sim.
